From the back log: GN-X'd

My custom build of Bandai's HG 1/144 Genoace/Gn-X/00-7Sword


The HG Genoace kit is already pretty great. Very basic design and a solid load out with plenty of room for modification, the perfect base for a kitbash.
I did this project for a group build with the theme of a personal build fighter, my goal was to design a slightly understated high mobility grunt type suit. I may have overdone some of the colors but I was very pleased with the outcome regardless.


Original concept: Blocky Genoace head and leg camo. 



The Genoace perfectly mounts the GN-X's tail booster and HG Jegan's shoulders, It's feet have been replaced with 00 Seven Sword's.


Head replaced for the HG GN-X head:

Sinanju inspired thruster pack built from build boosters and connected to Seven Sword's backpack:





This made the kit very back heavy so I glued some metal ball bearings in it's feet to help it stand.



 Can actually stand under it's own considerable weight!



And the final version:
Leg "camo" scrapped, replaced with thruster vents and metal parts. Equipped with a bazooka and claw cobbled together from the shield weapon pack. This pink became a guilty pleasure of mine, I love it's vibrancy contrasted with the greys.

 Well folks, it is done. We had an absolutely massive turn out and this took forever to judge and evaluate. Before I post the reviews i'm going to go over our criteria and try to give you a frame of reference for what we look for in competition models. I've been judging competitions using IPMS rule sets for several years now and i was joined by judges who excel in clean building, resin figures, and scratch building. From the Backlog: You got Katoki'd

This kit has been looming in the background of my WiP's for almost a year. Katoki's redesign of The Okawara classic Wing Gundam. Not sure what sense that makes but hey it's Bandai so it doesn't really need to. I've wanted to do a Wing series kit for a while now mostly because it was my gateway into the world of Gundam. Every afternoon at 4:30 my eyes were glued to the tv screen in want of glorious mecha combat. Despite having a poor narrative and a ridiculous amount of recycled stock animation 8 year old me was in love. So, what's the verdict on this kit? Not great unfortunately. The frame is decent enough if a bit skinny but the redesigned rifle does nothing for me. The proportions are strange too making it look more like a giant power ranger than a combat mech.
