Busy week!

Despite having almost no free time to work on my glorious robotic passion this week i managed to kill an airbrush through sheer force of gravity.

The lack of chemicals in the air has been a nice change but i feel the itch coming on. Thank god for prime shipping.

Here's some old projects in the mean time.

My first ever Gunpla: HG Gouf flight type, Hand painted Testor square bottle enamel, unthinned in a single coat.

Needless to say i've learned a few things since then.

 With my RG Zaku2 before I butchered painted it.
And the aftermath, This was the last model I hand painted.

 Well folks, it is done. We had an absolutely massive turn out and this took forever to judge and evaluate. Before I post the reviews i'm going to go over our criteria and try to give you a frame of reference for what we look for in competition models. I've been judging competitions using IPMS rule sets for several years now and i was joined by judges who excel in clean building, resin figures, and scratch building. My particular expertise is in weathering and kitbashing. What does a judge look for? The entries were judged on 3 categories: Basics. This includes seam fixing, surface preparation, and the application of in box components. Paint. This is solely the application of paint. Details.This includes any additional parts not included in the kit box and parts on the model smaller than 5mm. From the Backlog: You got Katoki'd

This kit has been looming in the background of my WiP's for almost a year. Katoki's redesign of The Okawara classic Wing Gundam. Not sure what sense that makes but hey it's Bandai so it doesn't really need to. I've wanted to do a Wing series kit for a while now mostly because it was my gateway into the world of Gundam. Every afternoon at 4:30 my eyes were glued to the tv screen in want of glorious mecha combat. Despite having a poor narrative and a ridiculous amount of recycled stock animation 8 year old me was in love. So, what's the verdict on this kit? Not great unfortunately. The frame is decent enough if a bit skinny but the redesigned rifle does nothing for me. The proportions are strange too making it look more like a giant power ranger than a combat mech. The backpack in particular irks me. The way the wings are connected make moving them a major pain as well as giving them a very limited range of motion. It also begs the question, how d...
